ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is an extracorporeal life support strategy for the treatment of critically ill children with reversible heart and lung failure, increasingly being used in patients with low cardiac output after cardiac surgery. However, the mortality of patients is closely related to the complications of ECMO, especially bleeding, thrombosis, and infection, ECMO-related nosocomial infection has become a challenge to the success of ECMO. This study aims to analyze the incidence and risk factors for venoarterial-ECMO (VA-ECMO)-related nosocomial infections in children after cardiac surgery.@*METHODS@#We retrospectively collected the data of patients who underwent VA-ECMO treatment after pediatric cardiac surgery in the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from July 2015 to March 2021, and divided them into an infected group and a non-infected group. The clinical characteristics of the 2 groups of patients, VA-ECMO-related nosocomial infection factors, pathogenic microorganisms, and patient mortality were compared. Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors for nosocomial infection related to VA-ECMO after cardiac surgery.@*RESULTS@#Of the 38 pediatric patients, 18 patients (47.37%) had VA-ECMO related nosocomial infection, served as the infected group, including 7 patients with blood infections and 11 respiratory tract infections. Gram-negative pathogens (16 strains, 88.9%) were the main bacteria, such as Acinetobacter baumannii (6 strains), Klebsiella pneumoniae (3 strains), and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (3 strains). Compared with the non-infected group (n=20), the infection group had longer time of cardiopulmonary bypass, time of myocardial block, and time of VA-ECMO assistance (All P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that time of cardiopulmonary bypass (OR=1.012, 95% CI 1.002 to 1.022; P=0.021) was an independent risk factor for ECMO-related nosocomial infection. The number of surviving discharges in the infected group was less than that in the non-infected group (1 vs 11, P<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Cardiopulmonary bypass time is an independent risk factor for VA-ECMO-related nosocomial infection in children after cardiac surgery. Shortening the duration of extracorporeal circulation may reduce the incidence of VA-EMCO-related nosocomial infections in children after cardic surgery. The occurrence of VA-ECMO-related nosocomial infections affects the number of patient's discharge alive.

ABSTRACT

@#Desmoid tumor is a rare, locally-invasive fibromatosis with a high recurrence rate and non-metastatic features. Here, we reported a 62-year male patient with desmoid tumor in the superior sulcus of left lung, complaining of cough, chest pain, limited-movement, and pain on the left upper arm. We performed extended resection of the tumor, including wedge resection of the left upper lobe, resection and anastomosis of partial left subclavian artery, resection of T1 nerve root, cauterization of adhesive pleura, and resection of the left first and second ribs. After surgery, the patient's symptoms were relived. The duration of hospital stay was 8 d. This is the first reported case of surgical treatment for the superior sulcus desmoid tumor.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of enteral extended biliary stenting for biliary stricture. Methods:A multicenter retrospective cohort study was conducted on data of 550 patients with obstructive jaundice due to extrahepatic bile duct stricture between February 2006 and April 2020. Patients were assigned to conventional group (undergoing conventional biliary stent placement) and extended group (undergoing enteral extended biliary stent placement). Propensity score was used to match the basic data of patients of the two groups. Then the stent patency time, bilirubin difference before and after 1 week operation, incidence of complications and hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results:Among the 550 patients, clinical data of 20 cases were missing and 35 failed to be followed up. Finally, 326 patients were enrolled to the study after propensity score matching with 163 cases in each group. The patency time of extended group was 111.0 (82.0, 192.0) days, which was longer than that of conventional group with patency time of 93.0 (70.0, 141.8) days ( Z=3.260, P=0.001). Total bilirubin difference value of pre-operation and post-operation was less in extended group [51.2 (26.0, 114.7) μmol/L VS 46.0 (13.9, 81.1) μmol/L, Z=2.095, P=0.036]. The rate of early adverse events [4.3% (7/163) VS 3.7% (6/163), P=0.079] and median in-patient days (10.0 days VS 10.0 days, P=0.379) were similar in the two groups. Conclusion:Enteral extended biliary stent is effective and safe for treatment of biliary stricture, which can prolong the patency time without increasing postoperative complications and hospital stay.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective     To identify the risk factors for postoperative recurrence of peripheral solid small-nodule lung cancer (PSSNLC) (T≤2 cm), and to explore the effects of surgery types on prognosis. Methods     We extracted data from Western China Lung Cancer Database (WCLCD), a prospectively maintained database at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, and Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER)  database for peripheral solid small-nodule lung cancer patients (T≤2 cm N0M0, stageⅠ) who underwent surgery between 2005 and 2016. We used univariable and multivariable logistic regression to analyze risk factors for recurrence of PSSNLC. We applied propensity-score matching to compare the long-term results of segmentectomy and lobectomy, as well as the survival of patients from WCLCD and SEER. We finally included 4 800 patients with PSSNLC (T≤2 cm N0M0)(WCLCD: SEER=354∶4 446). We matched 103 segmentectomies and 350 lobectomies in T≤1 cm, and 280 segmentectomies and 1 067 lobectomies in 1 cm<T≤2 cm at a ratio of 1∶4 according to the propensity scores. Results     The results of multivariable logistic regression showed that older age (HR=1.04, 95%CI 1.03-1.05, P<0.001), male (HR=1.60, 95%CI 1.37-1.88, P<0.001), squamous carcinoma (HR=1.65, 95%CI 1.40-1.95, P<0.001), lymph node removed (HR=0.97, 95%CI 0.96-0.99, P<0.001) were risk factors for recurrence after surgery. We found that segmentectomy and lobectomy could reach similar survival in PSSNLC patient with either T≤1 cm or 1 cm<T≤2 cm. Analyses of 1 441 patients with PSSNLC after matching (WCLCD∶SEER=325∶1 116) indicated that the 5-year overall survival rate of the patients in WCLCD was better than that in SEER database ( 89.8% vs. 77.1%, P<0.001). Conclusion     Older age, male, squamous carcinoma, and lymph node removed are the risk factors for recurrence of PSSNLC. Segmentectomy shows similar survival in PSSNLC patient with either T≤1 cm or 1 cm<T≤2 cm N0M0. The patients in the WCLCD shows better survival compared with of the patients in the SEER database.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective     To analyze the perioperative outcomes of uniportal thoracoscopic lobectomy compared with three-port thoracoscopic lobectomy. Methods     Data were extracted from the Western China Lung Cancer Database, a prospectively maintained database at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, West China Hospital, Sichuan University. Perioperative outcomes of the patients who underwent uniportal or three-port thoracoscopic lobectomy for lung cancer during January 2014 through April 2021 were analyzed by using propensity score matching. Altogether 5 817 lung cancer patients were enrolled who underwent thoracoscopic lobectomy (uniportal: 530 patients; three-port: 5 287 patients). After matching, 529 patients of uniportal and 1 583 patients of three-port were included. There were 529 patients with 320 males and 209 females at median age of 58 (51, 65) years in the uniportal group and 1 583 patients with 915 males and 668 females at median age of 58 (51, 65) years in the three-port group. Results     Uniportal thoracoscopic lobectomy was associated with less intraoperative blood loss (20 mL vs. 30 mL, P<0.001), longer operative time (115 min vs. 105 min, P<0.001) than three-port thoracoscopic lobectomy. No significant difference was found between the two groups regarding the number of lymph node dissected, rate of conversion to thoracotomy, incidence of postoperative complication, postoperative pain score within 3 postoperative days, length of hospital stay, or hospitalization expenses. Conclusion     Uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy is safe and effective, and the overall perioperative outcomes are comparable between uniportal and three-port strategies, although the two groups show differences in intraoperative blood loss.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Derlin 3 (DERL3) is downregulated in colorectal cancer (CRC) samples. Its level is closely linked to lymphatic metastasis or distant metastasis rate in CRC patients. However, its biological behavior in lung adenocarcinoma were rarely reported. The aim of this study is to investigate the ectopic expression of DERL3 in lung adenocarcinoma tissues and its effect on the invasion and metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma A549 cell line to reveal the possible mechanism of invasion and metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma.@*METHODS@#Lung adenocarcinoma microarray gene chip data included 3 cases of lymph node metastasis and 3 cases of lung adenocarcinoma tissue without lymph node metastasis. The GEDS and Kaplan-Meier plot queries the survival curve and expression level of DERL3. Western blot was used to detect the expression of DERL3 in lung adenocarcinoma cells. The efficiency of knockdown DERL3 gene was detected by Western blot assay. Transwell detected the number of cells passing through the basement membrane of the transwell. EDU assay detected cell proliferation ability. Western blot detected the expression of epithelial-mesenchymal transition related proteins E-cadherin and Vimentin.@*RESULTS@#The microarray gene chip results showed that compared with lung adenocarcinoma tissues without lymph node metastasis, 1,314 mRNAs in lung adenocarcinoma tissues with lymph node metastasis were up-regulated, 400 mRNAs were down (P<0.05). The expression of DERL3 increased in lung adenocarcinoma (P<0.05). The results of survival curve showed that the lung cancer patients with high expression of DERL3 with poor prognosis (P<0.05). Western blot results indicated that plasmid transfection was successful. Knockdown of DERL3 suppressed the ability of proliferation, invasion and migration in A549 cells (P<0.05). After knockdown of DERL3, the expression level of Vimentin was decreased, while E-cadherin expression increased (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Knockdown of DERL3 inhibited the proliferation, invasion and metastasis of A549 cells.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the effect of miR-204 on the invasion and metastasis of breast cancer by targeted regulation of HNRNPA2B1.@*METHODS@#The bioinformatics database was used to obtain data of the expressions of miR-204 in breast cancer patients and the survival rate of the patients. RT-qPCR was used to detect the expression of miR-204 in breast cancer cell lines. The expression vector GV369-miR-204 was used to overexpress miR-204 in MDA-MB-231 cells. Transwell assay was performed to detect the effect of miR-204 on the migration and invasion ability of the breast cancer cells. The key genes (hub genes) of miR-204 were determined by bioinformatics method. A dual luciferase assay was used to analyze the targeting relationship between miR-204 and HNRNPA2B1. The expression of HNRNPA2B1 in MDA-MB-231 cells after miR-204 overexpression was detected by Western blotting, and Transwell assay was used to examine the changes in the cell invasion ability.@*RESULTS@#The expression of miR-204 was decreased in both breast cancer tissues, and was significantly lower in breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells than in MCF-10A cells ( < 0.05). The decreased expression of miR-204 was associated with poorer prognosis of breast cancer patients ( < 0.05). Upregulation of miR-204 in MDA-MB-231 cells significantly inhibited the invasion and migration of the cells ( < 0.05). Analysis of the data from the Starbase revealed that the expression of miR-204-5p was negatively correlated with the expression of HNRNPA2B1, and the expression of HNRNPA2B1 was increased in breast cancer patients ( < 0.05) in association with a poorer prognosis of the patients ( < 0.05). Dual luciferase assay demonstrated that miR-204 could bind to HNRNPA2B1 in a target-specific manner. Western blotting and Transwell assay showed that miR-204 significant inhibited the migration and invasion ability of breast cancer cells by targeting HNRNPA2B1 ( < 0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#miR-204 expression is decreased in breast cancer tissues and cells, and its overexpression can inhibit the invasion and metastasis of breast cancer cells by targeted regulation of HNRNPA2B1.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the inhibitory effects of PEG-APTES-MNP magnetic heating on liver cancer cells.@*METHODS@#The magnetic nanoparticle complex PEG-APTES-MNP was synthesized and its physiochemical properties and biocompatibility were characterized. HepG2 cells were incubated with the PEG-APTES-MNP nanoparticles for magnetic heating or nanoparticle therapy. Prussian blue staining was used to detect the uptake efficiency of the magnetic nanoparticles by HepG2 cells. MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to evaluate the inhibitory effect of the nanoparticles on HepG2 cells, and laser scanning confocal microscopy was used to detect the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the cells. Fifteen nude mice bearing HepG2 cell xenografts were randomized equally into PEG-APTES-MNP injection group (with nanocomposite injection only), PEG-APTES-MNP magnetic heating group and control group (with PBS injection), and the tumor growth were observed in the mice after the treatments.@*RESULTS@#The synthesized PEG-APTES-MNP nanoparticles showed good physicochemical properties and biocompatibility. Incubation of HepG2 with the nanoparticles resulted in significantly increased ROS production, obvious inhibition of the cell growth through the synergetic effects of magnetic heating ( < 0.05), and significantly enhanced cell apoptosis. In the tumor-bearing nude mice, the nanoparticles strongly inhibited the tumor growth by magnetic heating ( < 0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#The magnetic nanocomposite PEG-APTES-MNP has good physicochemical properties and bioavailability and can strongly inhibit the growth of liver cancer cells both and in nude mice through magnetic heating, demonstrating its potential as a candidate nanomedicine for liver cancer treatment.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To identify the anatomical positional relation of the internal jugular vein and the common carotid artery, and investigate the predictive factors associated with the stenosis rate of the internal jugular vein after catheterization in hemodialysis patients.@*Methods@#A single-center cross-sectional survey study of 235 patients from the Department of Nephrology, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital between August 2017 and June 2018 was performed. According to whether received hemodialysis treatment, The patients were divided into dialysis group (n=187) and control group (chronic kidney disease non-dialysis patients, n=48). Clinical data such as age, primary disease, history of deep vein catheterization, catheter indwelling time and dialysis age were collected. The positional relationship between the internal jugular vein and the common carotid artery was examined by Doppler ultrasound. Measure the cross-sectional area of the internal jugular vein in different neck anatomical planes and analyse of the incidence of internal jugular vein stenosis in the dialysis group. Chi-square test was used to compare the differences in the incidence of internal jugular vein stenosis between subgroups of different ages, with or without catheter retention, catheter indwelling time, dialysis age and presence or absence of diabetic nephropathy.@*Results@#Doppler ultrasonography showed that in the 235 patients, there were four types of anatomical relationship between the internal jugular vein and the common carotid artery in the plane of the flat thyroid cartilage and the apex plane of the upper clavicle. The internal jugular vein was located on the lateral, anterolateral, anterior and medial sides of the common carotid artery, accounting for 16.23%, 36.52%, 41.11% and 3.14% respectively. There were significant differences in the anatomical relationship between the internal jugular vein and the common carotid artery between the left and right sides, different anatomical planes and patients of different ages (P<0.05). The rate of internal jugular vein stenosis in 187 hemodialysis patients was 47.1%. The right internal jugular vein stenosis rate was 66.4% and 44.1% in the age<65 years old group (n=128) and age≥65 years old group (n=59), respectively (P=0.004). The rate of internal jugular vein stenosis was 49.0% and 32.8% (P=0.018) in the catheter placement group (n=151) and the catheterless retention group (n=36), respectively. Two variables including age and history of catheterization were included in the logistic regression equation. The results showed that the history of catheterization was a risk factor for internal jugular vein stenosis (OR=1.668, 95% CI 1.083-2.568, P=0.020).@*Conclusions@#There is variability in the anatomical relationship between the internal jugular vein and the common carotid artery. Internal jugular vein stenosis is a common complication after indwelling catheters in hemodialysis patients. The history of internal jugular vein catheterization is a risk factor affecting internal jugular vein stenosis.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Endplate cartilage degeneration initiates intervertebral disc degeneration. AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) regulates the formation and degradation of cartilage. OBJECTIVE:To explore the role of AMPK in an in vitro natural degeneration model of chondrocytes derived from endplate of rat intervertebral discs. METHODS:Morphology of in vitro subcultured endplate chondrocytes of rat intervertebral discs at passages 0, 2, and 5 were observed under an inverted microscope fol owing cytoskeleton staining. Chondrocyte phenotype, proliferation, and the cartilage marker genes (type II col agen, proteoglycan, SOX-9, matrix metal oproteinase-3 and-13), and AMPK phosphorylation were determined by toluidine blue staining, MTT assay, real-time PCR analysis, and western blot assay, respectively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The altered morphology, decreased proliferation ability, and phenotype loss were observed in chondrocytes with increased passage number. Gene expression of type II col agen, proteoglycan, SOX-9 was significantly decreased;while gene expression of matrix metal oproteinase-3 and-13 was significantly increased in endplate chondrocytes at passage 5 compared with those at passages 0 and 2. AMPK phosphorylation in endplate chondrocytes at passage 5 was significantly decreased. These findings indicate that AMPK phosphorylation is involved in in vitro natural degeneration of chondrocytes derived from the endplate of rat intervertebral discs, and the degeneration of endplate chondrocytes and intervertebral discs can be inhibited through the regulation of AMPK activity.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the effects of 17 β-estrogen (E2) and 2-methoxyestradiol (2ME) on hypoxic induced factor-1α (HIF-1α) and alkane hydroxylase (AlkB) in experimental rats with ovariectomy and hypoxic pulmonary hypertension. Methods: A total of 60 healthy female SD rats with castrated surgery were randomly divided into 6 groups:①Routine oxygen group,②Routine oxygen + E2 group, the rats received subcutaneous injection of E2 (20 μg/kg?d),③Routine oxygen + 2ME group, the rats received 2ME (240 μg/kg?d) and④Hypoxia group,⑤Hypoxia + E2 group,⑥Hypoxia + 2ME group.n=10 in each group and all animals were treated for 8 weeks to establish the hypoxic pulmonary hypertension model. The mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) was measured after bloodletting, right ventricle hypertrophy index (RVHI) was calculated and small pulmonary artery remodeling was observed by HE staining. The expression level of HIF-1α and AlkB were examined by RT-PCR and Western blot analysis. Results: Compared with Routine oxygen group, the rats in Hypoxia group had obviously thickened small pulmonary artery wall with narrowed lumen, increased mPAP and RVHI; the above changes in Hypoxia + E2 and Hypoxia + 2ME groups were relatively smaller, their mPAP and RVHI were higher than Routine oxygen group, while mPAP and RVHI were similar between Hypoxia + E2 and Hypoxia + 2ME groups. There were no real morphological changes in small pulmonary vessels in Routine oxygen + E2 and Routine oxygen + 2ME groups. The HIF-1α expression was obviously elevated in Hypoxia group than Routine oxygen group, while the elevation was less in Hypoxia + E2 and Hypoxia + 2ME groups. HIF-1α expression had no real changes in Routine oxygen+E2 and Routine oxygen + 2ME groups. The AlkB expression was obviously reduced in Hypoxia group than Routine oxygen group, while the reduction was less in Hypoxia + E2 and Hypoxia + 2ME groups. AlkB expression had no real changes in Routine oxygen + E2 and Routine oxygen + 2ME groups. Conclusion: Estradiol E2 and 2ME could remit pulmonary hypertension which might be via up-regulating AlkB expression and down-regulating HIF-1α expression in experimental rats with hypoxic pulmonary hypertension.

Objective To compare the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) and contrastenhanced CT(CECT) for the differential diagnosis of the benign and malignant hepatic nodules in BuddChiari syndrome(BCS).Methods Thirty-nine BCS patients with hepatic nodules underwent CEUS and CECT examination separately, through which the perfusion characters of the nodules in different phases were observed. With the pathological result as the golden standard, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of CEUS and CECT were compared on diagnosing benign regenerative nodules and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in BCS.Results Of the 66 hepatic lesions in 39 patients,21 were hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and the other 45 were regenerative nodules. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of CEUS and CECT were 81%,91%,88% and 71%,84%,80% respectively. Thus the diagnostic efficiency difference between CEUS and CECT had no statistic significance(P >0.05).Conclusions The differential diagnoses of the benign and malignant hepatic nodules in BCS on CEUS and CECT have high consistency.Due to the convenience and safety of CEUS,it can be used as first-line method.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the therapeutic effect and safety of Longjintonglin Capsule in the treatment of type III prostatitis (chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome, CP/CPPS).</p><p><b>METHOD</b>We selected 240 patients with type III prostatitis according to the diagnostic standards of the American National Institute of Health (NIH) and treated them with Longjintonglin Capsule orally 3 capsules once tid for 12 weeks. Based on the NIH chronic prostatitis symptom index (NIH-CPSI), traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome score, and leukocyte count in the expressed prostatic secretion (EPS), we evaluated the results of treatment.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Totally 238 patients completed the treatment, including 108 IIIA and 120 III B prostatitis cases. Before and after 4, 8, and 12 weeks of treatment, the total NIH-CPSI scores were 23.12 ± 6.99, 18.22 ± 6.39, 14.12 ± 5.88, and 12.36 ± 6.04 (P < 0.01) in the IIIA prostatitis patients and 22.01 ± 6.28, 17.56 ± 5.89, 13.67 ± 5.18, and 11.45 ± 5.22 in the III prostatitis patients (P < 0.01), the TCM syndrome scores were 52.12 ± 13.08, 48.13 ± 12.11, 43.05 ± 11.19, and 40.78 ± 10. 59 in the former (P < 0.01) and 53.02 ± 12.12, 49.32 ± 12.78, 44.01 ± 11.79, and 39.67 ± 10.26 in the latter (P < 0.01), and the leukocyte counts were 26.09 ± 21.55, 23.02 ± 18.61, 18.25 ± 17.79, and 15.36 ± 16.38 in the IIIA cases (P < 0.01). Neither abnormalities in liver and renal function nor obvious adverse events were observed during the experiment.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Longjintonglin Capsule, with its advantages of safety, effectiveness, and no obvious adverse reactions in the treatment of type III prostatitis, deserves to be recommended for clinical application.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the influence of the fish oil fatty acid (rich in ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids ) acting on the cellular immune and inflammatory response of perioperative patients of gastrointestinal tumors .Methods 79 gastrointestinal tumors patients who took total parenteral nutrition (TPN)after operation are divided into 2 groups randomly(collected from July 2010 to June 2012) .39 patients in study group are supplied with fish oil fatty acid within 24 h after operation and 7 d in total .40 pa-tients in the control group are supplied with ordinary long chain fat emulsion within 24 h after operation ,7 d as a course .The per-centage and the ratio of T lymphocyte subsets(CD3 ,CD4 ,CD8) ,monocyte human leukocyte antigen DR(HLA-DR) expression(per-centage) and the number of monocytes of 2 groups were test by blood test at 1st and 8th day after operation .Results The ratio of CD3、CD4、CD8、CD4/CD8 ,monocyte(HLA-DR) expression(percentage) and the number of monocytes in the study group were sig-nificantly higher than that of control group after received fish oil fat emulsion (P0 .05) .However ,compared with their results shown that they all had obvious difference respectively by a eight-day observation(P0 .05) .Conclusion Given the fat emulsion of fish oil which is rich in ω-3 poly-unsaturated fatty acid can significantly improve the cellular immune function of postoperative patients and release the inflammatory response after operation in patients of gastrointestinal tumors .

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the changes of left atrial(LA) segmental strains by using threedimension speckle tracking imaging(3D-STI),and to investigate the feasibility of 3D-STI for assessment of LA myocardial strains in healthy adults. Methods A total of 60 healthy subjects were enrolled.Apical fullvolume images were acquired in all subjects and then were analyzed by off-line 3D-STI analysis software. The software divided LA into 16 segments automatically, they were six walls (anterior,anterior-septal,posterior-septal,inferior,anterior-lateral,posterior-lateral) in basal and middle levels, and four walls (anterior, septal, inferior, lateral) in roof level. The peak longitudinal strain (PALS),peak circumferential strain(PACS),peak area strain(PAAS),the time to peak longitudinal strain(TPLS),the time to peak circumferential strain(TPCS) and the time to peak area strain(TPAS) of left atrial by 3D-STI were obtained and compared. Results ①Compared with the four walls in roof level and anterior-lateral,posterior-lateral walls in middle level,PALS of corresponding walls in basal level were significantly increased (P <0.05).PALS of posterior-septal,inferior and posterior-lateral walls in middle level were significantly increased than septal, inferior, and lateral walls of roof level (P <0.05).PACS and PAAS of all walls in roof level were significantly increased,as compared with that of corresponding walls in middle and basal levels, and the PACS of posterior-septal wall in basal level were lower than that in middle level(P <0.05).②There were no significant differences in PALS,PACS,PAAS between different walls within one level(P <0.05).③TPLS,TPCS,TPAS of septal wall were significantly lower than that of lateral wall.TPLS of anterior wall,TPCS and TPAS of inferior wall were significantly lower than that of lateral wall(P <0.05).Conclusions 3D-STI is a feasible skill to assess LA myocardial strains in healthy subjects.
